The YMCA provides summer day camp childcare in Port Arthur (at the YMCA) and in Orange (at North Orange Baptist Church).
The position is for 20-40 hours per week (see work schedule below).
General Functions:
To provide quality childcare in a day camp setting by teaching values, ensuring safety and participating in play and educational activities with the children, in accordance with state requirements and YMCA policy.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the following physical requirements:
Walking, sitting, hearing, kneeling, standing, vision, and lifting (up to 50lbs).
Knowledge:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required with demonstrated interest in the welfare of children; prior childcare or babysitting experience is preferred.
You must be able to pass the Texas ChildCare Licensing Background Check.

Qualifications- Must be at least 18 years of age.
CPR & First Aid training are provided.
Approximately 20 hours of paid pre-camp training will also be required.
Responsibilities:
All summer camp counselors are expected to perform the following activities.
Duties specific to the program area follow and other duties may be assigned as needed.
A) Promotes and incorporates the YMCA core values and character development model into all program activities.
B) Set up activity centers each day.
C) Participate and interact with children in the center and in outdoor activities.
D) Supervises children under the direction of the program director.
E) Break down of activity centers and cleaning of the program area daily.
F) Take daily attendance and ensure only parents or authorized persons on the registration form are allowed to pick up the child.
Ask for photo identification if it is someone that you are not familiar with.
Parents must sign each child out.
G) Supervise and be responsible for all children attending daily and maintain a positive relationship with the children and parents.
H) Safety of the children is our #1 concern.
We want the children to have fun and feel comfortable in our program but remember- SAFETY is out #1 concern! Report any items that may need attention to your supervisor or Maintenance Director.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
